In a major step along our interoperability roadmap, we are excited to announce that Godwoken is now in mainnet beta. Godwoken is an EVM-compatible Layer 2 blockchain, and part of the multi-layer roadmap that will help propel Nervos to be the future-proof blockchain platform of choice for developers.
Secured by Nervos’ Layer 1 through the use of an optimistic roll-up, Godwoken Layer 2 ensures high throughput and security. Combined with its Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) support, it enables developers to employ Ethereum contracts while keeping transactions scalable, fast, and low-cost.
Godwoken is the first of many Layer 2s to launch on Nervos and will be fine-tuned over the next few months throughout the Mainnet Beta program.
We are inviting web3 projects to join the mainnet beta of Godwoken now, and are offering them the opportunity to be part of the next booming DeFi ecosystem as a first-mover in order to quickly gain traction within the Nervos community and even potentially earn funding.

What Makes Godwoken Special?
Godwoken along with Nervos’ ecosystem tools, account abstraction and Force Bridge create the ultimate interoperability focused EVM Layer 2.
With both Godwoken and Force Bridge (Nevos’s cross chain bridge) now available, Ethereum developers can use their existing codebases to begin porting their dApps to Nervos. Thus enabling them to expand their user reach and brand awareness in a burgeoning network focused on DeFi development. Additionally, bridges to ADA and BTC are also on the horizon, with more chains to follow from that.
In addition to Nervos’ Force Bridge, we have implemented a powerful account abstraction that allows both Layer 1 and Layer 2 to interact with a multitude of account management solutions, such as Ethereum’s Metamask wallet, and other methods — for example,more user friendly non-custodial account systems such as Unipass.
Tying Nervos’ account abstraction with the Godwoken solution ensures flexibility in how users can interact with dApps on Nervos. An ethereum-like experience with metamask is possible, as is an ‘internet like experience’ with these more traditional user accounts.
The launch of our interoperability-focused tools in operation with account abstraction means that we are establishing a new blockchain standard that will not only be a way for people to build dApps across DeFi and other sectors on Nervos, but also contribute to the wider blockchain ecosystem, regardless of account model, consensus mechanism, and other factors. Essentially, on Nervos, it doesn’t matter if a chain is using Proof-of-Work, Proof-of-Stake, UTXO or account models, they will all be able to come together and be entirely interoperable.
The destination for Nervos is to be able to connect with anything that exists, and anything that will exist, in the future. Our layer 2 technologies, on a layered architecture, with a flexible layer 1, means a completely new web3 experience is now at our fingertips.
How to be First on Godwoken
Godwoken is initially launching into a Mainnet Beta, during which we will be whitelisting projects in order to give next-level support. Whitelisting will give projects access to an additional private discord for the most up-to-date L2 information as it happens and launch engineering support.
Deployed dApps and transactions will be live and users will be able to interact with launched projects with real CKB and other tokens.
The Mainnet Beta will roll directly into Mainnet. At that time, Mainnet Beta projects will not need to take any specific action and whitelisting will end. Mainnet Beta is expected to last a few months until the launch process is perfected.
